Monday December 10th - Ottawa

“Lisa is the first repeat winner of the Preston Cup for being Slammer of the Year,” said Andy Rajhathy, vice president of Executive Golf, the group that conducts the tour. “She loves the game and that enthusiasm comes through every time she’s playing or helping to organize and run events.”

In total, 26 Slammies were presented during the ceremony, which was held in the clubhouse at Falcon Ridge Golf Course.

Two of the evening’s many highlights were Rick Turner winning the Ottawa Sun Rookie of the Year award and Steve Swanson capturing the BG Golf-O-Max Most Improved Slammer trophy.

The Make A Wish Foundation charity was also a big winner at the Slammies.

Executive Golf purchased a spot at the foundation’s 2012 100 Holes for Hope event for $1,500 and overall EG passed along a check for $5,206, the bulk of which came from the Slammer Tour through contributions made by Slammers every time they three-putted in 2012.

Slammer Tour Commish, Jamie Ryan, couldn't attend the Slammies for the first time in Slammer Tour history, but had a chance to Skype in after the Preston Cup was awarded.

After the awards were handed out, Ryan Skyped with fellow Slammers for another 90 minutes.

“The evening ran smoothly with some comedy being provided by veteran Slammer Tour members as they presented the awards to their fellow golf-mates,” said Rajhathy. “We shared a few videos that have been captured over the years, which also contributed to some nice memories and laughs.”
